Anker-Holth™ engineers think outside the box and are able to design creative, one-of-a-kind solutions for international mega projects. Anker-Holth supplies numerous massive and unique application projects around the world, from the Roof-Retracting System for Montreal’s Olympic Stadium, the Continuous Electron Beam Accelerator Facility (CEBAF), now Jefferson Lab, in Virginia, USA, numerous hydroelectric projects, to non-ferrous continuous casting projects and steel mills in North and South America, Europe, India and China. Some of these one-of-a-kind projects are described below.

Montreal’s Olympic Stadium Roof Lifting System

Anker-Holth™ was chosen to be part of the building team for a spectacular retractable roof for Montreal’s award-winning Olympic Stadium. The unique challenge was to provide even tension on the roof supported from the tower. Anker-Holth™ rose to the occasion and designed and manufactured a completely automated system using the most sophisticated PLC’s and Hydraulic Power Units.

Hydroelectric Pumped Storage Facility

Anker-Holth™ designed and built the intake gate actuators and power units for North America’s first major hydroelectric stored-water project in the US.

World’s Largest Hydraulic Cylinder

Anker-Holth™ made international headlines by designing and building the world’s largest Hydraulic Cylinder and associated Hydraulic Power Unit and Controls for British Columbia Hydro’s Diversion Gate in Revelstoke, BC. This record-breaking cylinder weighed more than 100 Tons.

Niagara Falls Generating Station

Anker-Holth™ designed, manufactured, installed and commissioned all the hydraulic actuating systems for the Sluice Gates of the Niagara Falls Hydroelectric Generating Station. These hydraulic systems have been in trouble-free operation for over 40 years.

Continuous Electron Beam Accelarator Facility (CEBAF) Now Jefferson Lab

Anker-Holth™ was given a very challenging mandate to design and implement levelling systems for three giant (30,000 Ton) magnets using superconductor wires for the generation of massive magnetic fields. Despite the fact that the foundation of these magnets was over 7' (2 m) thick, these rotating magnets were creating movements in the foundation resulting in the distortion of the beam to the target. Anker-Holth™ designed and delivered hydro-electro-mechanical jacking systems installed under these giant magnets such that the elctron beams were dynamically levelled to the target with a tolerance of less than 0.002" (±0.01 mm) at any point during their revolution. This has been an unmatched milestone achievement in the world.

Ceramag 2000

The aggressive and harsh environments which are a major factor throughout the offshore, marine and hydroelectric industries drastically shorten the life of hydraulic actuators. This challenge is the primary catalyst that inspired Anker-Holth’s™ team to develop an alternative to standard chroming and/or nickel chroming. Our new Ceramag™ 2000 Rod Coating System consists of a special protective ceramic layer and finish which acts as a barrier to eliminate corrosion and wear on the rod and seals. This protection enhances the lifecycle of the cylinder and dramatically reduces costs.

Drilling Rigs and Production Platforms

Drilling rigs and production platforms around the world employ rugged, dependable Anker-Holth™ Cylinders. These harsh working environments destroy the hydraulic actuator in much shorter time than regular working environments. This application typically calls for longer cylinders. This is where Anker-Holth™ Cylinders shine.
